Common Core’s Revisionist History
Common Core was a state-led effort. Right? The problem with the internet is nothing truly disappears.
EAGnews.org used the Wayback machine (an internet archive site) to capture this quote off of Corestandards.org from March 5, 2010:
“The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO).”
That’s all we ever hear today.
But let’s go just a little further back to October 19, 2009:
“The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a joint effort by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) in partnership with Achieve, ACT and the College Board.” (Emphasis mine.)
As Mr. Luna is so fond of saying, I wonder if he was “in the room” when the decision was made to change this?
