Two Small Victories, Please Say Thank You!

We have had two small but important victories in the last two days.

Yesterday, Representative Harris presented a bill to the Senate Education Committee that would allow all students an alternate route to graduation. As of now, only a select few students are allowed this option, all others must pass a standardized test to graduate. This bill would allow parents the right to ask for an alternate route for any student. SB1070 will be printed.

Another important victory took place this afternoon.
After taking the long road, Representative Ron Nate’s bill to remove Idaho from the SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium, (SBAC) is going to be printed. (Sorry, no link to this bill yet.)

Please take just a moment to thank the Senate Education Committee for taking these important first steps in restoring local control in education.
